Copper Etchings
My etching prints are the first of all my creations displayed on this website. Etching became my safe haven during university, where I became engrossed in the technique and the methodical nature of each step. Under the guidance of my professor, Ernst Nicol, I learned everything I know about this art form. Although he has passed away, I cherish having one of his masterpieces facing me every day as I enter my studio, serving as a constant reminder of my talent and skill.
Through etching, I discovered a love for the old-school method of carving every line, dipping the plate in acid, burning, and repeating the process. This meticulous methodology resonates with my approach to oil painting, where I appreciate each step that leads to a final outcome. Each piece reflects the care and precision that goes into my craft, creating a tangible connection to my artistic journey.
