Olive Tree

This copper etching is a tribute to my childhood summers in Turkey, where olive trees shimmered in the summer sunlight. Inspired by the vibrant memories of watching farmers pick olives and enjoying delicious olive oil with beautifully cooked meze, this artwork captures the essence of those fond family gatherings.

Etched on a copper plate, the intricate lines spiral around, depicting the knotted trunks and delicate branches of the olive tree. Each detail resonates with the symbolic richness of the olive tree, symbolising peace, prosperity, and longevity, while personally evoking memories of warmth and togetherness.

Through this etching, I aim to convey not only the visual beauty of the olive tree but also the emotional depth it holds for me—a symbol of cherished moments and the rich culture rooted in the landscapes of Turkey.
