Zebra's Gaze captures the captivating essence of a zebra in close-up, engaging with the viewer through its watchful gaze. As an artist who grew up in Africa and embarked on a career in veterinary and conservation, my admiration for these spirited creatures runs deep. Despite often being overshadowed on safari rides, I cherish their individuality and the intricate uniqueness of their stripes. Just as each zebra boasts its own distinct pattern, reflecting the diversity of our personalities.
This piece invites viewers into a moment of connection with the zebra, pondering its next move—whether to stand guard, approach, or gallop away. The monochrome palette of black and white seamlessly integrates into any space, while subtle accents of yellows, oranges, browns, and my signature gold hues accentuate the zebra's eye, adding a mesmerising depth that intensifies when illuminated by sunlight.
Measuring 80 x 100 cm on a 3D gallery-grade canvas and crafted with high-quality oil paints, this original painting is ready to grace your wall and infuse your space with the untamed beauty of the African savannah.
