Golden Hour Ballet
This painting captures a cherished memory from my time living in Rwanda, where I often witnessed the majestic dance of East African cranes during sunset. In this artwork, a solitary crane is depicted, its crown aglow with golden hues as the African sun gradually descends. The use of greys, blues, browns, black, and white highlights the intricate shades and tones of its feathered body, while burnt sienna and gold accentuate its crown, creating an effect as if the sun itself is bidding goodnight.
Set against a deep black background, the elegance and beauty of the crane stand out, with the bird's gaze meeting the viewer’s eye. This painting is a tribute to the elegance and grace of this magnificent bird and a reminder of the magical sunsets that painted my time in Rwanda.
